On October 6 at KSW 45 in The SSE Arena, Wembley two generations will collide as Michal Materla and Damian Janikowski meet to decide who steps into the final of the four-man tournament to crown the next KSW middleweight champion.
Materla, a former KSW champion, is one of the biggest names in the sport in Poland and has long been one of Europe’s standout middleweights. The 34-year-old is on an impressive 4-1 run since dropping the title to the legend Mamed Khalidov at KSW 33 and wants his title back. The list of names over the years that have fallen at hands of Materla include Rousimar Palhares, Paulo Thiago, Tomasz Drwal, Kendall Grove and Martin Zawada.
For Damian Janikowski stepping into the MMA arena he only had one focus and goal, and that was to become KSW middleweight champion. There was only one way to achieve that, to seek out the toughest challenges immediately. He only made his debut just last year at KSW 39 and has already earned stoppage wins over former KSW, BAMMA and EFC champions. Now returning to London, the city where he won a bronze medal in Greco-Roman wrestling, Janikowski will look to add another huge scalp to his record and earn a crack at the KSW middleweight title.
