TF2 TEAMS SELECTED
Team Soldierboy or Team Lesar, who you got?
Johannesburg, South Africa – 10 of the best female flyweight prospects from around the world have been selected to live and train together, as well as compete against each other in a quest to win the ultimate prize: a six-figure contract and a guaranteed shot at EFC gold in the reality TV series, The Fighter Season 2 (TF2).
The contestants were revealed on Saturday. Upon entering the EFC Performance Institute and the TF2 penthouse last week (when filming began), the contestants were evaluated by the coaches, and then split into two teams chosen by Soldierboy and Lesar. Representing the colours of Constantia Insurance, team Soldierboy take orange and team Lesar take blue. The teams are:
Gabriela Dos Reis Marçal – Brazil: 3-0 (pro record), 2-0 (amateur record)
Kayla Hracho – USA: 0-0 (pro record), 7-2 (amateur record)
Beckie Ainscough – England: 0-0 (pro record), 2-2 (amateur record)
Sandra Mašková – Czech Republic: 1-3 (pro record)
Alice Ardelean – Romania/England: 4-5 (pro record)
Cornelia Holm – Sweden: 1-1 (pro record), 10-2 (amateur record)
Christina Charis Stelliou – Greece: 4-3 (pro record), 1-1 (amateur record)
Manon Fiorot – France: 0-1 (pro record), 3-2 (amateur record)
Mellony Geugjes – Netherlands: 3-7 (pro record)
Jacqualine Trosee – South Africa: 2-4 (pro record)
TF2 debuts on global TV on Friday 1 March, with a new hour-long episode released each week thereafter. The series builds to the live grand finale on 4 May, taking place at the home of African MMA, Carnival City.
About TF1 – The Fighter
‘The Fighter’ is a ten-part reality TV series, presented by Constantia Insurance, featuring undefeated MMA middleweight prospects from around the world in a quest that ends with a six-figure prize contract and a guaranteed shot at EFC gold. Not only the massive prize, but the opportunity to be coached and mentored by two of EFC’s best athletes.
Coached by undefeated reigning bantamweight champion, Demarte ‘The Wolf’ Pena, and interim bantamweight champion Irshaad ‘White Tiger’ Sayed, the ten athletes are split into two teams, Team Pena and Team Sayed. The two coaches will face each other at the grand finale on 16 December to be aired live, globally.
Following the massive success of MMA reality programmes globally, The Fighter will be the first show of its kind produced in Africa, as well as the first to be broadcast to African audiences on free-to-air TV networks.
The Constantia Insurance colours of orange and blue have been chosen as the official team colours for the series, with Team Pena claiming the orange kit and Team Sayed the blue.
