Usman becomes first African born UFC Champion

Kamaru Usman became the first ever, African Born, UFC Champion at UFC235 this past weekend. The Nigerian born Usman faced the now former Champion, Tyron Woodley. Woodley is vastly considered one of the greatest Welterweight Mixed martial artists of all time, which speaks volumes to the Pedigree of the now Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman.
Many doubted that Usman would have the experience to dethrone Woodley who has been so dominant for so long. However, after the first round it became very clear that the “Nigerian Nightmare” would be Woodleys toughest test to date. As the minutes passed by, Usman pressed in dominant fashion, with a clinical display of wrestling and sheer domination from start to finish. Halfway through the 3rd round Usman had managed over 10 minutes of control and the fight continued in that fashion. Late in the 4th Round Usman had the former champ hurt and pressed hard for the finish, But Woodlet showed the heart of a Champion to survive.
After 5 of the most dominant rounds in Title fight history, the decision was unanimous with all 3 judges in favour of Usman.
