- On Saturday evening, Jan Blachowicz and Ronaldo Souza went head-to-head in the main event of UFC® FIGHT NIGHT SAO PAULO. Blachowicz defeated his opponent via split decision, the Polish powerhouse is now on a two-fight win streak.
- Looking to his next bout, Blachowicz said: “I won the fight. Jacare is a tough opponent but what matters is that I won. If Jon Jones wants it, I am ready to fight for the belt.”
- Scottish light heavyweight fighter Paul Craig travelled to South America to take on UFC legend Maurício Rua in the co-main event. Both athletes put on an impressive performance, resulting in a split decision draw.
- Speaking about his performance, Craig said: “I came to Brazil and got a draw against a Brazilian legend. I just wish I had done more. I should have done better.”
- In a female bantamweight bout, UFC debutant Tracy Cortez lived up to expectations on Saturday evening where she showed true grit in the Octagon® and defeated her opponent, Vanessa Melo, via unanimous decision.
- Delighted with the experience, Cortez said: “It was a hectic week, but I have the right coaches to keep my mind at ease and nothing affected me. I just stayed focused on the fight. About the fans, I knew the crowd was not going to like me at first, but Brazil is amazing. The fact that they can just cheer someone on like they did is mind-blowing. I pray that when I fight in my hometown, they cheer for me like that
