UFC fight night – Overeem vs Rozenstruik everything you need to know

Heavyweight Heaven
The main event of Saturday’s UFC® Fight Night Washington sees English-born Alistair “The Demolition Man” Overeem take on Jairzinho “Bigi Boy” Rozenstruik from Suriname. Now fighting from The Netherlands, Overeem looks to use his power and athleticism to overcome No.14 ranked UFC heavyweight, Rozenstruik.
The record holder for the fastest knockout in UFC Heavyweight division, Rozenstruik has had a dream start to his career, winning 3 fights from 3 – all victories coming via knockouts. The South American will use his significant power against Overeem, who no doubt will turn to his experience within the UFC to claim his 46th career win.
Fiery Females
Marina Rodriguez will go head to head against Cynthia Calvillo in the co-main event this Saturday. Despite only having three UFC fights under the belt, Rodriguez finds herself in a strong position to break into the strawweight division. Calvillo will look to build on her last two wins and use her grappling finesse to tap out the Brazilian.
The second fight for the ladies includes Aspen Ladd. The American is coming off the first loss of her career and looks to bounce straight back against the experienced Yana Kunitskaya. The promising Russian contender is fighting for her third win in a row, however, Ladd will look to prove any doubters wrong by putting on a strong performance against Yana. This match-up is going to be an intriguing bout to watch as both athletes bring outstanding skills to the Octagon.
European Excellence
Alistair Overeem & Yana Kunitskaya won’t be the only Europeans on the Main Card. Dutch athlete Stefan “Skyscraper” Struve joins the European party and will want to capitalise on his impressive last win, building momentum against American, Ben Rothwell. 38-year-old Rothwell tees up an exciting heavyweight clash between two giants of the sport, standing at 6’11.5” and 6’4”, respectively.
Despite retiring and leaving his gloves in the Octagon® earlier this year, the rejuvenated Struve, who has a record of 33 wins in 44 fights, will be determined to capitalise on his return and carry momentum into the new year. On his path, Rothwell will want to prove that he is a force to be reckoned with and build on his 6 wins in the UFC.
