Jessica “Evil” Eye takes on Cynthia Calvillo for a flyweight showdown in the main event. Eye has won four of her last five bouts and she has an excellent win record, currently tied for 3rd most wins divisional history behind UFC Flyweight Champion Valentina Shevchenko and Katlyn Chookagian. The number one ranked flyweight also holds the honours of most submission attempts in a women’s flyweight fight with a record six attempts.
Her contender this weekend is also a record holder in her own right. Cynthia Calvillo has only lost once in her professional career and she’s earned three submission victories as part of the UFC’s strawweight division. She’s currently tied with Rose Namajunas for most in the division’s history. Seen as one of the most talented grapplers in the strawweight division, Calvillo will be looking to build on her winning streak and make It four wins in a row against Eye.
A clash of middleweights
The co-main event rising stars Karl Roberson and Marvin Vettori will face each other in a middleweight bout.
At just 26 years old the young Italian Marvin Vettori has been making a name for himself as a bright prospect with his well-rounded skills. The Italian Dream’s last outing saw him defeat Andrew Sanchez in the third round. He also had a tough win against Cezar Ferreira something that his opponent Karl Roberson couldn’t manage.
However, Baby K is also coming off a strong win against Roman Kopylov who he defeated in third round via submission. Boasting strong kickboxing dominance and precision, it’s no wonder he has three victories in his last four bouts. With no love lost between the two this is set to be a close contest with both southpaw athletes coming off back to back wins but who will keep their winning streak alive?
The action continues as Merab “The Machine” Dvalishvili takes on Ray “The Tazmexican Devil” Borg in the bantamweight contest of the night. The Machine will be hoping he can turn his winning streak of three into four, he also has a strong record of nine wins from his last 11 outings. He’ll look to make the most of a slight advantage over his opponent in height and reach.
Making his second appearance in four weeks, Borg will be looking to bounce back after his defeat to Ricky Simon via split decision in his last outing. The Tazmexican Devil was eager to get another bout on the cards and will be hoping to improve on his record of 13 wins. With both fighters wanting to make a statement and get themselves back on the rankings this could be an action-packed bout.
