Waterson vs Hill – what you need to know

In the main event of the evening, No. 8 ranked Michelle Waterson will take on No. 11 ranked Angela Hill in an exciting matchup in the UFC® strawweight division. A perennial contender, Waterson has recorded impressive victories over the likes of Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Paige VanZant during her UFC career. Known for her rounded striking and karate game, “The Karate Hottie” has vowed to adopt a more aggressive style in this contest in the hopes of securing an important victory.
Her opponent Hill, however, should not be overlooked and has won three of her last four UFC contests. A former world kickboxing champion with an undefeated record in the sport, “Overkill” will look to utilise her elite striking against Waterson, in what will be her fifth bout inside the Octagon® in 12 months. Fans can expect an entertaining matchup here between two contenders with legitimate title aspirations.
Marvellous Moroccan
The co-main event sees undefeated Moroccan prospect Ottman Azaitar and American Khama Worthy go head-to-head in a lightweight bout. Currently holding a perfect 12-0 career record, Azaitar impressed on his UFC debut at UFC 242 last September, where he recorded a remarkable first round KO victory over Teemu Packalen. “The Bulldozer” will be looking to maintain his unbeaten record on Saturday and add to his impressive tally of career finishes (nine KO, two submission).
Khama Worthy enters this bout, however, on a seven-fight win streak and will be hoping to hand Azaitar his first career loss. A pro since 2012, “The Deathstar” shocked fans by defeating Devonte Smith in his UFC debut, after taking the fight on just four days’ notice, and subsequently followed up that performance with a submission victory over Luis Pena last time out. In a bout that seems unlikely to last the full three rounds, it will be interesting to see which contender can triumph on Saturday night and maintain their momentum in a competitive lightweight division.
