Fighting at prime time for the UK, the UFC is in Las Vegas with some more exciting bouts on display, including two UK athletes and an exciting middleweight headline event.
Offense vs defence
The middleweight class is full of elite talent and two of the top 10 contenders face off to headline, both with hopes of getting their name closer to a title bout.
In blistering form, Marvin Vettori has won his previous four bouts, and 11 of his previous 14. He is patient and tactful when in the Octagon and has the highest strike defence in the middleweight division, avoiding 66.4% of his opponents’ significant strikes. He has submitted nine opponents and will be keen to lock up Holland early, as he has recorded 11 first-round finishes in his career so far.
Stepping in with less than two weeks’ notice, Kevin Holland looks to bounce back after a defeat via unanimous decision to Derek Brunson. He racked up five UFC wins last year, which is tied for most in one calendar year in UFC history. He has the highest significant strike percentage in middleweight history and tries to dominate significant strike differential. It will be interesting to see how he fares against the best strike defender in the division.
From chip shop worker to Almighty athlete
This bout sees two in-form athletes who are currently the no.10 and no.11 ranked in the featherweight division.
Coming into this hot off a four-bout win streak, Sodiq Yusuff will need to be at his best to continue his good form. He is dangerous when given the opportunity to strike, securing four first round finishes so far in his career. He has also shown his ability to control bouts, winning three of his last five via unanimous decision. He’ll be patient when striking but if the opportunity arises he will be vicious.
Winning an impressive nine in a row, Arnold Allen will be hoping to keep his momentum going. He has won five of his last six via decision, showing his durability and dominance in the Octagon. He has five career wins via KO and four by submission. He has the versatility to keep Yusuff guessing, and this fight could come down to a slip-up, as neither of these athletes are likely to let a mistake go unpunished.
All-American strawweight bout
Two exciting strawweight athletes lock horns in this all-American bout.
After a slow 1-3 start to her professional career, Nina Ansaroff has bounced back well and is 9-3 since. She has four wins by KO and two via submission. She has not finished a bout, or been finished, since 2017, so Ansaroff will be happy to go the distance.
Mackenzie Dern is on a three-bout winning streak, now holding a 10-1 record. She is a submission expert, submitting six opponents so far in her professional career, her preferred technique being the rear naked choke. She will be looking to end this quickly having secured five first-round finishes in her professional career.
An explosive bout
This bantamweight bout sees an undefeated UK athlete take on an American who has only suffered one professional defeat.
Jack Shore steamrolls into this one having won his first 13 professional bouts. His submissions are lethal and he has accumulated five first round finishes since going pro.
Also enjoying an incredible start to his professional career, Hunter Azure is 9-1. He is versatile, having won three bouts via KO and one by submission. He is patient and methodical when in the Octagon and both of his UFC wins thus far have come via decision.
