Another week and another prime-time event with prelims starting at 9pm BSTwhere UK athlete Danny Roberts versus Ramazan Emeev will be live. We stay at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas for this event, which is the second in a row to be headlined by a female fight.
An Immortal headline
Two women’s featherweight athletes headline this week’s card, as no.10 ranked Aspen Ladd and Norma ‘The Immortal’ Dumont face off.
Since turning pro in 2015, Aspen Ladd is off to a great start to her career, boasting a 9-1 record. She holds six wins by KO and one by submission, her most recent victory was over Yana Kunitskaya by strikes back in 2019. She holds two post fight awards; one fight of the night award when she defeated Sijara Eubanks, and one performance of the night award for a first-round KO of Tonya Evinger.
Norma Durmont is currently riding a two-bout win streak, and this will be her second fight back at featherweight, after she won a bout at bantamweight in her second UFC fight. The Immortal holds a Sanda black belt and jiu-jitsu brown belt, and has proven herself to be an efficient grappler, securing both her career finishes by submission. Before fighting in the UFC, she held a job as a secretary.
Two bulls collide
A veteran of the UFC faces a man in his second-year as a UFC fighter, as Andrei ‘The Pit Bull’ Arlovski and Carlos ‘Boi’ Felipe face off in the heavyweight division.
Andrei Arlovski has recorded over 50 fights in professional MMA, and holds a 31-20, 2NC record. He has been a pro since 1999 and has secured 20 finishes, 17 knockouts and three by submission. The Belarusian veteran was a police officer in the 90s before he committed to MMA full time. He was the UFC heavyweight champion from 2005 to 2006.
After losing on his UFC debut, Carlos Felipe has won three bouts consecutively. He initially began training as a teenager when trying to lose weight. Since then, he has turned pro and amassed an 11-1 career record. All four of his UFC fights have gone down to decision, and he won his previous two fights this year over Justin Tafa in January, and Jake Collier in June.
Roberts returns to the Octagon for the first time since September 2019, when he defeated Zelim Imadaev by second-round knockout. He has won 11 of his last 15 and of his 17 career wins, 13 came by finish, eight by knockout and five by submission. ‘Hot Chocolate’ has five first-round finishes in his career and two post fight awards, both were fight of the night, in victories over Dominique Steele and David Zawada.
Looking dangerous in recent times, Ramazan Emeev has won nine of his last 10 bouts, including his last two. He has secured seven first-round finishes in his career. He holds a Bachelor of Law from Dagestan State University and has a history in freestyle wrestling. He holds 10 career finishes, three knockouts and seven by submission.
